After my more or less healthy breakfast, I'm doing research for the podcast. Following a suggestion from [livejournal.com profile] dalekboy I'll be looking at movies for kids pre-Star Wars. Got some great ideas already, partly poached from the BFI kid movie list which is fantastic. I won't be plagiarising the list but it's a launching pad for the ideas.

I'll try to shun the obvious stuff and look at the films that would inspire kids to look beyond Pixar, Lucasfilms and Dreamworks for their movie fixes. Looking through my collection and references books and various websites, there are some really exciting possibilities available. Too often people only skim the topsoil of cinema, the shallow, the recent and the pretty fucking ordinary. Deeper down, there are breathtaking treasures and inspiring wonders.

Off to see Wolverine this afternoon with [livejournal.com profile] eeyoreslament, Jamie and Sarah. It will be good to catch up :-)
