Up at dawnin', sleepy and yawnin', still the taste of wine... as Jerry Lewis sang in the only good version of The Nutty Professor. Actually, I didn't indulge in the product of the grape last night. After work, Sal and I segued over to Rose's place to hang out before dinner. Borrowed lots of DVDs as we tend to do when visiting one another's homes. Got the Cleopatra 2525 boxed set to check out, Dead Like Me Season 1 and some other stuff. Goodie.
After shooting the shit for a while, we headed up to Curly Joe's on Sydney Road for dinner. Curly's was our local pizzeria back when we lived in Brunswick. Rose expounded on the Federal government's Industrial Relations "reforms" a bit. They're worrisome and 120 years of workers' rights are up for grabs, but I've come to expect no better from the greedy phalluses who run the country. We talked fandom as fans tend to do and I told a few stories about my Smithfield days in Canberra which made me go all nostalgic. My penne marinara was excellent and the nice maitre d' made me a strong coffee with a shot of amaretto in it. Good coffee too. Sal and Rose had impressive slabs of tiramasu and lemon cheesecake respectively. I was full. Around 10.30 we decided to make a brief appearance at the MSFC before heading back to Rose's for more hanging around and talking. Before we knew it, it was 1.45 in the morning and ice was forming on the car outside. Time to head home. The nice thing about driving home at that hour is that the drunks have passed out or been caught by the cops and the roads are all but empty. Half a moon hung in the sky and a tired and hungry cat awaited our arrival.
Today, it was off to the Laverton Trash and Treasure market again. More success this time. We picked up a bunch of board games to flog on E-Bay, each for less than the price of a cup of coffee. The afternoon is low-key. Might watch a movie tonight. Tomorrow, we have to hack the winter growth off the garden.
