A couple of weeks ago, [livejournal.com profile] queen_nephthys and I got ourselves a Playstation 2 because we simply didn't have enough electronics and toys in the house. It's a mutual wedding present and we immediately got two games: God of War and the game of Peter Jackson's iteration of King Kong. Now we have about seven or eight games, including the X-Files one for [livejournal.com profile] queen_nephthys and Goldeneye: Rogue Agent for the James Bond fan (moi).

These suckers are a drug of dependence. [livejournal.com profile] queen_nephthys spent many hours doing alien autopsies and other icky stuff on the X-File game, while I slashed my way through mythological beasties in GoW, now I'm playing Goldeneye trying to take on six tanks and thirty bad guys while armed with only a pistol and an eyeball that does MRI scans and throws EMPs at things. Lots of fun, but very time consuming and exhausting. I'm on 7 panels at a convention in a fortnight and I've been spending my time shooting Dr. No out of the sky with a rocket launcher.

The other toy, is at least semi-practical. A new Motorola Razr phone which has an mp3 player, video camera and still camera as part of the deal. Basically, it too is a spy-gadget. Now I can download a couple of podcasts onto the phone before a gym session and bliss my way through all the panting and sweating listening to Phillip Adams' Late Night Live, or The Dawn and Drew Show, depending on my mood. Makes the time pass well...

Toys are addictive.
