Okay, on a whim I decided thatqueen_nephthys and I should go to the volcano-tiki-easter-island themed Smorgy's All You Can Eat Restaurant on Saturday for lunch. Uncharacteristically, I got us a little lost in the wilds of Bundoora, but we finally arrived at the place. It's not looking good. The lack of maintenance shows and the whole atomosphere is pretty shitty. We took Travelbox, the new laptop with us and here's the blog entry we did while sitting in the place.
queen_nephthys The restaurant smelt musty, the floor is covered in mysterious stains (see right), nobody expects Michelin star food for $12.95 all you can eat but you expect edible, correctly cooked tasty food. Something which is lacking here.
king_espressoThe pasta sauce is runny and almost tasteless, the pork is stringy, the salads were left over from yesterday... I hope. If it wasn't for the tiki god outside the window (see pix), we would not be here. queen_nephthys just brought me a salad plate with a prawn on it. No fucking way, man. The pickles are okay, though and the green olives are passable. The deli meats are dubious but I ate some. queen_nephthys says that her coleslaw is a pale khaki colour and sure enough, it is. Dessert, I am going to risk because it will help queen_nephthys's law suit if I we can prove that I have LJed what killed me. The soft-serve ice cream came out of the spigot with the consistency of a weak milkshake, totally liquid, so we didn't get that. The chocolate mousse had a weirdly chalky texture and the lime jelly was tasteless, but sufficiently wobbly. Next time I suggest this place, someone send me an email linking back to this LJ posting, huh?
