Rumsfeld's on the pension. Gone are the days when he used to hang out with Sammy Davis Jr in Vegas -- and yes, he did in the 70s. Now he's Robert McNamara and Doctor Strangelove/ Henry Kissinger combined. The Democrats are in power in the country that runs my country - but they're still a bunch of Jesus freaks who believe (as Clive James says) that the marketplace has a mind. It's all botox, comb-overs and special interests over there, just like here. But it will be fun to see someone kicking Bush's pimpled, puckered arse for two years, even if they do nothing about Guantanamo, secret prisons and the Department of Homeland Fascism. (Hi to any NSA morlocks reading this, by the way. Love your work.) If you don't think that America has changed much since 2001, check out a 1998 movie called "The Siege" to see what the last century thought was a reasonable approach to terrorists, especially ones who kill Annette Bening.
Lots of luck, Americans. Maybe you guys can pull yourselves back from the abyss. I hope so. Like Frank Herbert said, fear is the mindkiller.
