I was so virtuous this morning. Gym @ 8 am, computer swap meet at nine to pick up some blank DVDs ($16 for a spindle of 50 16 speed diskies) and some DVD cases, then over to the East Side of Melbourne where queen_nephthyss parents, Peter and Annette are doing an early family Xmas dinner for the extended clan. I'm giving Peter a crash course in DVD, ahem, backing up.

queen_nephthys and her evil bridesmaid crony Alicia have organised for us to do Zombie Town, which for the uninitiated is a field trip to Highpoint Shopping Centre during the all-night pre-christmas sales. They want to go around 2.30 AM, when the whole complex is a scene out of a George Romero movie. It makes me want to get out the shotguns and baseball bats as I see the walking dead staggering around pushing shopping trolleys at an un-Dawkinsly hour of the morning. Of course, I'm the designated driver, so they had better stoke me with strong java for this one. This is one of queen_nephthys's new yuletide rituals. Other people watch Xmas movies like "It's A Wonderful Life", "Miracle on 34th Street" or "Die Hard" but her ritual involves consumerism at the time of day when pensioners are most likely to die in their sleep.

Mad TV have done a wonderful pisstake on the ouevre of Aaron Sorkin (West Wing, Sports Night, Studio 60). It's on Youtube here and it's a giggle for we Sorkin fans.
