We just got ourselves a new desktop computer for various sedentary computer pursuits and it came pre-installed with Vista Home. What a shit OS! It treats you like a baby, asks permission to do everything and does as much as possible to inhibit us from doing what we want to do with our own machine. We've still got to get a decent video card so Sal can play The Sims 2 on it, but the machine runs fast when Vista lets it. I even cracked the shits and wiped the HD, and installed Windows XP on it , but after some more thought I reinstalled Vista, mainly because I'm not letting Microsoft beat me on this thing. We also picked up a Netgear wireless card which is more complicated to install than it needs to be. But this morning, with sleep and a head cleared by a couple of espresso shots, I got the thing working with the help of an updated driver downloaded on one of the other PCs. Felt really accomplished, too.
I got re-evaluated at the gym yesterday and got my new workout sorted. Lots of more ab stuff, about the same cardio as I've been doing and a few more free weights. It was tough, Unfortunately, I woke up this morning with the feeling that an up-and-coming middle-weight had been pummeling my torso. What the hell. It will pass. I'll be doing another session tomorrow morning after I watch Barrie Cassidy and The Insiders.
Today's programme is simple. Chill out, barbecue a small beef roast for dinner and watch some movies. No more computer troubleshooting, no more shitting on the head of a Bill Gates voodoo doll, zero stress and maybe some funky 1960s spy jazz on the I-Pod.
