The NY Times obituary is here but here's a short list of the movies he made.
Kiss of Death (1947) - his Tommy Udo was the psychopath of the middle of the century in cinema.
Road House (1948) - Jefty the roadhouse owner who wanted to get into Ida Lupino's pants - another great nutcase.
Panic In The Streets (1950) - trying to rid New Orleans of the bubonic plague carried by Jack Palance and Zero Mostel.
Pickup On South Street (1953) - pickpocket Skip McCoy who steals from the wrong girl's purse.
The Long Ships (1964) - a great viking...
I always liked him in films. He added versimilitude to the characters and situations he portrayed.
