I read this bit in the Herald Sun (AKA The Hun) where respected Melbourne newsreader for Channel 9 Peter Hitchener came out as a gay gentleman. The cliche is to say that he's brave, but for some reason that hoary old saying doesn't sit well with me. Instead, I admire his honesty. The more gay people in the media who do come out, the wider acceptance gay men and women will find in our society. Hitchener's honesty helps illuminate the wonderful diversity of our species, and because of that, I say good on him and wish him well.
