Day Two of the Chill Out weekend.
Two ristretto shots and a healthy bircher muesli breakfast, chilling out watching Barrie Cassidy and Insiders, off to the gym at ten and maybe a small barbecue at dinner time. Maybe I'll watch a movie or two. I'm also going to get back in to the Learning French For Beginners podcasts, which I let lapse last year. I read somewhere that learning a second language at my advanced level of birthday acquisition is difficult, but ce qui la baise, might as well give it a go.
Last night was comedy DVD night here. Balls of Fury - written and directed by the guys who made Reno 9-11 - was amusing with Christopher Walken's trademark kookiness adding to the fun. I also like Terry Crews, who seems to have the gift of taking the piss out of his macho, ex-NFL player persona in movies like Idiocracy and The Benchwarmers.
Death At A Funeral was okay. A Brit comedy of manners which starts with the funeral directors bringing the wrong corpse to the wake and ends with an old man sitting naked on the roof of the house off his tits on drugs.Frank Oz shoots for the feel of an old Ealing ensemble comedy but some of the actors needed to bring their playing up a level to embrace the farce more. Alan Tudyk was good at being involuntarily drug-fucked for much of the movie, Peter Dinklage is fine as an unexpected guest but some of the energy levels are off.
Gotta go, the cat needs patting.
