Well I just got several bits of weird family news. Won't share it, but any good vibes you send can't hurt. My family is, and will always be radically atypical - apart from the fact that most of them, except me, are about as tall as Oompa Loompas.

Things aren't going well for some of them and all I can do is offer love, sage advice and distant support. We're scattered up along the eastern half of the country and I'm by far the furthest south. It gets me down a bit. Obviously I want the best for them all, but can't provide it. I suppose it comes from my self-perceived status as patriarch of the clan and the fact that, with a few speed bumps, my life is good right now. In material ways, I have more than any of them, but not enough to help with their problems.

So I talk on the phone and tell them I love them.

And just to cheer us all up, here are some naked guys with ukeleles singing that NZ classic, Haere Mai.
Mood:: 'pensive' pensive
Music:: haere mai - Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra
