From The Age: Swimming great Ian Thorpe says he hopes pro-Tibet protesters respect the Olympic flame during the torch relay in Canberra tomorrow.
So the epicene Mr Thorpe wants us to respect an object made of combusting gases that was first created by Nazi propaganda wizards... okaaayyyyy... oddly he doesn't ask for the same respect for the human rights of Tibetans. But of course, this is coming from the guy who cooperated on the writing of his biography and admitted to not having read the book. I love this bit: Asked at the book's launch last month if he had read Greg Hunter's biography, Thorpe admitted he had not and probably would not. He said his people would tell him if there was anything in it he needed to know. So it seems clear that we should heed the words of this promethean Australian polymath and respect the burn-y thing. His people probably told him to tell us to.
I just checked my Bigpond Movie list to see which DVDs I wanted them to send me and I was scrolling through the Science Fiction and Fantasy listing and found that Bible stories are listed under that category. Seems apt to me, but I'm sure that others might disagree.
