Sal and I headed over to Jamie and Sarah's to watch the second heat of the Eurovision Song Contest last night. A good assortment of like-minded peeps showed up. Lucy and Julian, Natalie and Murray and Rose. Everyone loved the Latvian Pirates and some of the women expressed interest in any male singer who wore leather trousers. One female singer had an unfortunate amount of botox, so her head had a freaky art-deco look.

As usual with J&S parties, there was food. Murray cooked a chicken stew with grapes that for some reason worked well,we supplied some dips, and the host and hostess did finger food including little sausages and devils on horseback.

After the Eurovision Jamie made the mistake of asking me to pick a video for us to watch, so in line with the Euro theme, I grabbed my copy of The Young Girls of Rochefort. Singing, dancing and the only botox was inside unseen rubbish bins. Another cool night of cultural silliness.

The weather here in Melbourne has turned way too cold. Mornings around zero centigrade and days in the mid-teens. Why is it that we only feel global warming in summer? I could use some of it right now.
