I've been checking out the stats on Paleo-Cinema Podcast way to much of late. Getting more and more downloads and I've figured out part of the underlying structure of the podcast universe. The more episodes you have, the greater the number of downloads. Just say you've produced three podcasts. For every new dedicated listener you get at the most, three extra downloads. But at the moment I've done twenty three episodes, so if I hook a new listener in and they become dedicated, I get up to twenty three new hits. That's why the chart of my downloads resembles nothing so much as a skate-board ramp.

The sages of podcasting say that this is the way to build an audience for podcasts. Do what you love, be passionate about it, stay regular on the new episodes and network with other podcasters. Podcasting is still small enough not to be competitive. Movie podcasters *want* a lot of good movie podcasts out there. That's what they like listening to. They offer help and advice freely and in general form a good community of movie geeks who know their Aldrich from their Altman, don't get Dan Duryea mixed up with Audie Murphy and know the differences between the choreographies of Hermes Pan and Michael Kidd.

In case it ain't clear, I really enjoy podcasting.
