I Don't Mind Mondays

[livejournal.com profile] queen_nephthys is ill. She's been vomiting all morning, so I've taken a carer's day to take her to the quack's, have prescriptions filled and help to keep her hydrated. I'm going to spend today and tomorrow working on the 100 movie reviews I promised you LJ mavens a while back. Might get one or two done. The hard part is finding things to say about films that a) aren't glaringly obvious and b) haven't been said before. With a movie more than a few years old, that isn't easy. But it is fun. I get a kick from observing something in a movie that nobody has forewarned me about. (Like, who gives a fuck about the butterfly in "A Sound of Thunder" - it shouldn't change the time line because a volcano's pyroclastic flow is going to vapourise it in five minutes anyway. Thus, the whole premise of the movie is illogical.)

Seeing again a movie I first saw decades ago can be a mixed nostalgic experience. On the one hand, it can take back to the time and place where I first saw the flick, on the otherI get a moment of "What the fuck did I see in that movie?" with some of them. Ah well, such is life, as a 19th Century opponent of capital punishment once opined.

Rabid Christers

I just saw a bumper sticker that said "God loves you, whether you want him to or not".

If that's the case, I'm taking a restraining order out against the needy prick before he starts stalking me and making weepy phone calls at 3 am after drinking ten or twelve UDLs.

Your Result: Rational Person

You consider these questions obvious straw men, designed to distract people from a meaningful investigation of facts and a serious discussion of relevant political issues. How boring.
