I'm having a quiet, chill out, watch lots of DVDs weekend right now. [livejournal.com profile] queen_nephthys is sleeping in, and I'm catching up on the last few episodes of Studio 60. I plan to do extremely little for the next two days.

Since the funeral of my father, I've been a little contemplative, but not really depressed. Again, he gives me a good bad example to follow. Live life to the fullest, keep my mind active and engaged, look forward to the future, savour the small joys of life and love family and friends. One of the realisations I've had is that in spite of my glitches and idiosyncracies, I'm a lot less fucked up than some of my family, and much much less than I might have been. The life I live is an achievement to a greater degree than it might have been for other people with different upbringings. And I feel good about that.

Now back to watching DVDs, drinking coffee and nibbling bhuja mix.

I'll be interested to hear your reactions to the last episodes of STUDIO 60. I won't say anything now for fear of spoilers but after you've watched them, we can chat. I don't know anyone else who's watching it except me and Stephen!

Basically, the closure for the characters in Studio 60 was good. Even though it might have seemed a little rushed, I have such a great fondness for those actors and characters that the ending didn't grate for me at all. Maybe I was in a mellow mood, but what the hell. Gonna have to get the box set from Amazon.com at some stage.

We thought it crossed the border from endearing to sappy and soap opera: medical crisis! hostage taking! PR meltdown! All in the same 36 hours... Shame - the show had such promise and there were always a few dialogue lines in each episode that made us remember why we love Aaron Sorkin and many of the characters were good but unfortunately it was way too unfocused.
